Reality contestant tragedy

A fun fact about me is that I love to bake.

I love decorating cakes, making cookies, playing around with designs and watching cake shows.

My favorite cake show is The Cake Boss.

His spin off show, The Next Great Baker, is currently in the middle of it’s second season.

I haven’t watched much in the past two weeks and since I was off work tonight and my husband was doing some homework I thought I’d catch up.

I just finished the fourth episode.

Contestant as well as Army Sgt. Wesley Durden was eliminated from the competition.

After the show is over, a black screen with writing says, “”In Memoriam, Wesley Durden 1982-2011, TLC extends its deepest condolences to Wesley’s family and friends.”

As a fan of the show, I really liked Sgt. Durden. He was charismatic, seemingly kind and a pleasure to watch on the show.

As soon as I finished the episode I went to tell my husband, who googled this, just like I had.

I just wanted to share this because I was very sad to see this, and I also question why, like the my googled articles pointed out, this information wasn’t shared with the audience before or why these episodes were aired. I’m a little curious about that.

My thoughts and prayers are with Durden’s family.

Here’s a link if you’d like to find out more.
